A Q&A with Connor Lynch, COO, Plastridge Insurance
100 years is quite an achievement. How did this happen and what do you base this on?
We are humbled by this great achievement. We strive every day to strengthen and improve not only our own business but the community at-large. The secret to our longevity is being honest, ethical and committed to our customers through the decades. If I could pinpoint one thing that has made the difference, it has been building a team that is a family. We are so grateful to have a team that cares about each other and it certainly carries over to the attention shown to our great clients.
Tell us about the history of Plastridge Insurance
Plastridge Insurance was founded in 1919 with the first office located on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, Florida. Our CEO, and my father, Tom Lynch purchased the company in 1974 from his father-in-law/my grandfather, who bought it in 1949. Plastridge has been doing business in the state of Florida for 100 years, with 70 years in the hands of the same family. Plastridge Insurance is the definition of a thriving, sustainable family business with my brother Brendan and I leading the company. We have grown from five employees to 95 today and we are the oldest insurance agency in Palm Beach County with offices in Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart. We provide business, commercial property, employee benefits, home and auto insurance locally, nationally and worldwide.
In the beginning, our phone number was simply “1”— “0” to reach your operator and “1” to reach your neighborhood insurance agency. “1” was our number until the 1940’s, and we’ve held on to the belief that we are still the first number you should call with your insurance needs. We pride ourselves on always being here when you need us.
Plastridge Insurance lives the vision of what companies strive to be. This sounds like a cliché, but it is true. We have maintained a true family environment and culture for 100 years, while prospering through the ups and downs of America’s history, technological and industry changes. And as a team, we continue to do this naturally, with an eye toward the future.
How are you a “client advocate”?
Whether it’s supporting with personal or business insurance needs, we take pride in what we do and will work tirelessly to present and accomplish what is best for our clients in an honest manner. As an independent insurance agency, we have access to many national insurance companies to be able to provide multiple options. We want to educate our clients and allow them to have choices and be in the drivers’ seat of what works best for them.
What is the Private Client division?
Our private client division has been tailoring coverage to meet the needs of successful individuals for over 60 years. We provide superior customer service and allow our expert agents to effectively compare rates and coverage to ensure our clients receive the most competitive pricing and the quality protection they deserve. We want to make the process easy and be sure to educate on all the changing areas of insurance including cyber liability, valuable items & jewelry as well as other trending insurance coverages.
Does the company also provide Business insurance?
Yes. Your livelihood is our specialty and protecting all your assets so you can rest easily is what we do. During the course of operating your business, it’s essential to be aware of areas that could be detrimental to the long-term success of the business or protection of important assets. Plastridge Agents’ specialize in assessing your risk, determining where you have exposure to claims, search to find the best coverage and pricing, educate on the pros and cons of each option and taking the weight off clients so they have one less thing to worry about as they select the best available option.
How is Plastridge Insurance focused on a community-driven culture?
For 100 years, Plastridge Insurance has been a community-driven agency. There has been a constant outreach with many non-profits, municipal and professional associations providing leadership, time and financial support. This starts at the top of the organization with the Lynch Family having served on many local associations, non-profit boards, appointed and elected positions and a consistent effort to stay involved. It is part of our core mission statement and we support and encourage our entire team to do the same.
